Asa Ramdath, MD
Dr. Ramdath was born and raised in Trinidad and Tobago. He earned his medical degree at the University of the West Indies, St Augustine, Trinidad in 2011. After working in the Emergency and General surgery departments at Trinidad’s San Fernando General Hospital, Dr. Ramdath completed his general surgery residency at the Howard University Hospital in Washington, DC. He was awarded the Department of Surgery Chairman’s Award for Intern of the year and Chief resident of the year for outstanding academic and clinical performance. Dr. Ramdath completed fellowship training in advanced gastrointestinal, minimally invasive, and bariatric surgery under the guidance of world renowned surgeon Dr. Raul Rosenthal at the Cleveland Clinic, Weston, Florida.
Dr. Ramdath is board certified by the American Board of Surgery. He’s currently affiliated with Texas Bariatric Specialists with multiple locations around South Texas. Dr. Ramdath offers surgical options for weight loss including sleeve gastrectomy, gastric bypass, revisional bariatric surgeries as well as general surgery and anti reflux procedures utilizing both laparoscopic and robotic platforms. He is a member of the American College of Surgeons and the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons. Dr. Ramdath resides in San Antonio with his wife Laura and enjoys hiking, travel and cooking.
